Filomena Nelson

Filomena Nelson is the Climate Change Adaptation Adviser at the Secretariat of the Regional Environment Programme since October 2017.  Prior to this, she was the former Assistant Chief Executive Officer responsible for Samoan Government’s Disaster Management Office under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.  She was the National Response Coordinator for the 2009 Pacific tsunami that affected Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga and 2012 Tropical Cyclone Evan. 

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Financial Management and Public Administration from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji and a Postgraduate Certificate in Humanitarian Partnership from Deakin University in Melbourne Australia.
