Nguyen Canh Thai

A/Prof. Nguyen Canh Thai graduated Civil Engineering and started working at Thuyloi University in 1987 as a faculty lecturer of Hydraulic Structural Engineering Department. He completed MSc and then PhD in 2000 from Kyoto University, Japan. In 2013 he was appointed as Vice President of Thuyloi University in charge of science and technology and international cooperation.

His specialties are hydraulic engineering with particular emphasis on environmental hydraulics, dam design, multiple functional dam management in the context of integrated river basin management and sustainable development. He is the author of several computer software, e.g. using finite element method, for hydraulics structure design.  He has been the team leader on major national projects on development of advanced dam engineering technology related. Number of PhD candidates have been graduated under his supervision. A/Prof Thai a member of steering committee of VNCOLD and a Editor – in – Chief of Water Resources and Environment Journal.
