Scott McHardy

Scott is the Head of Risk Financing at the Toka Tū Ake EQC.  Over the past three years Scott has led the development of Toka Tū Ake EQC’s risk financing strategy and is responsible for Toka Tū Ake EQC’s reinsurance programme.  He worked closely with the New Zealand Treasury on the Earthquake Commission Amendment Act 2019 acting as advisor to the New Zealand Select Committee.  Scott has continued to work closely with Treasury on the Government’s response to the recommendations of the 2020 Public Inquiry into Toka Tū Ake EQC including the modernisation of the Earthquake Commission Act. 

Prior to joining Toka Tū Ake EQC, Scott has held positions at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, including as Private Secretary to the Hon Gerry Brownlee, Minister Responsible for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery and Economic Counsellor at the New Zealand High Commission in Canberra. Scott has also undertaken a number of roles at the New Zealand Treasury across commercial investments and State-Owned Enterprises, Crown Financial Institutions and international strategy.
