Soo Hoon Hauw-Quek
Southeast Asia Disaster Risk Insurance Facility (SEADRIF) is an ASEAN+3 (Japan, People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea) Initiative established to increase member countries’ resilience against natural catastrophes exacerbated by climate change including floods, droughts, tsunamis and earthquakes. SEADRIF Initiative established SEADRIF Insurance Company (SIC), a general insurance company incorporated and regulated in Singapore.
Mrs Soo Hoon Hauw-Quek is the founding Board Chair of SEADRIF Insurance company (SIC). The Company provides sovereign catastrophe risk insurance coverage to participating ASEAN countries.
Soo Hoon has more than 30 years of corporate and regulatory experience in the insurance industry. She held senior management roles in the life and health insurance sectors. Soo Hoon’s regulatory experience included being the Executive Director of the Insurance Supervision Department at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. She was also a former EXCO member of the Insurance Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) from which role she gathered invaluable international experience on Core Principles governance framework and implementation of standards.
Soo Hoon currently serves on the Board of Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation and the non-profit Special Needs Trust Co. Ltd. She is a member of the Ministry of Health’s Medishield Life Council and Central Provident Fund’s Insurance Schemes Committee.
